When my 12 y-o standard poodle died in August, he was cremated at Midlands. They were very compassionate and respectful toward me. My heart was broken at the loss of my dog, but also for all the dogs I heard barking and crying who have no one to love and love them in return.
I took my beloved siberian husky to the humane society to be put to sleep, after having 48 of siezures the longest lasting six hours the night before. He was essentialy dieing. And i had to make the hardest descion ive ever made. But the staff was very proffesional, curtious, and understanding. They treated whetto(my dog), with compassion and made his transition to puppy heaven was as painless and easy as possable. I cant say enough about the staff and facilities at midlands. They are even helping me find a new dog as i need a emotional support dog, to cope with life. But i know that they find me a new support animal. That is almost as good as my whetto was my sincerest thank you to the gals that helped me that day.
The staff, here, are very professional and caring about their customers, as well as their animals. Be sure to call ahead because there are certain Wednesdays they are closed. I adopted here 6 years ago then this year I brought a new puppy to be chipped. I chose this place because of the professionalism and caring nature the staff presented during my first experience there. The drive among the stunning Loess hills and fields is nothing less than stunning. Once here, there are miles of sidewalks surrounded by nature either take your pup or just yourself, for a walk. It's spring as I'm writing this and nature is waking up. I encourage you to explore Midlands Humane Society and see what services they offer, volunteer, or donate❤️
Very professional and friendly. Very busy with the new intakes of rescue dogs, they do a great job. We are so grateful for the dog we received. Just what we wanted.
I have had two experiences myself and my friends had experiences where our pets were taken near our property if not on our property and taken into the shelter microchipped and in my friends case had survey done. When going into the shelter and asked where the animals were picked up they claimed it was not even down the road from my house or my friends house. They then proceeded to say that my friends cat was microchipped again when the cat was already microchipped. After all is said and done they would not return the cat even with all the documentation. My friend was forced into having to re adopt her own cat. In my case our dog has been taken twice near our property when we were outside working. The shelter also chipped her and gave her shots that she has already received with proven documentation. Once we tried to get our dog back they didn’t tell us tell the next day for some reason even when it was around 3 that we noticed she was gone. Overall I feel they are doing the most they can to gain money or take random pets off the street. I don’t know if this is true and I hope it is not but hearing it from multiple friends and myself makes me believe something fishy is going on. Will probably never visit here because of these incidents.
I went to Midlands with my daughter in law after the loss of my schnauzer Maxie. There I met Princess. It was love at first sight. The staff was great and the adoption process was very reasonable. Thank you to Midlands for helping this old woman her very needed companion fur baby.
(humor here people!). For our visit to the dog park on October 17 it was lonely. No other dogs to play with, no other humans. Just me and my dog.
The Kevin Bills Memorial Dog Park is the first ever off-leash dog park in Council Bluffs. HOWEVER it does require a membership to access use. You register through Midlands human society. It has a small dog side along with a bigger dog side. Though all dogs are welcome on either side. Added bonus is poo bags are located for free along fence line.
